Medical Transportation

Friendly Driver/Medical Transportation:
Provides transportation to medical appointments in and out of Clare County.

The transportation is provided by volunteer drivers.

Through our United Way funders, volunteers are able to transport clients to and from their medical appointments.

The friendly driving program is intended to provide medical transportation to seniors 60+ who cannot drive and who do not have adequate family or community transportation support.

Volunteers drivers, using their own vehicles, pick up the client at his or her home, take the client to the scheduled appointment, wait for the client, then take the client back home.

In order to receive Friendly Driving services, persons must be 60 years of age or older, and must be ambulatory.

Friendly Driving is not an on-demand service. Council on Aging's ability to fulfill transportation requests depends upon the availability of the willing volunteer driver.

Clients are asked to give staff at least a week's notice in which to schedule a trip; last minute/same day trips requests cannot be honored.
